The Injustices of the Divided States of America

Written By: Ky Brooks

The United States of America has waged wars across the entire world throughout its history of corruption and exploitation. Countries such as Vietnam, Korea, and Iraq have felt the wrath of the US military and have witnessed firsthand the injustices and war crimes they proudly commit in the name of capital. Recently, the corruption and ruthlessness of the United States has come back to bite them. The Covid-19 pandemic has revealed to the world the true nature of capitalism and how it puts the interests of the bourgeoisie above the needs of the masses. The corruption of the United States government has divided the nation, turning the federal government against the state governments, and turning conservative and reactionary forces against already struggling essential service workers.

In early March, the US federal government pumped $1.5 trillion USD into the stock market in a futile attempt to prevent a crash and protect large corporations from experiencing even a dip in profits. This action staved off the crash for a mere 15 minutes. Meanwhile, millions of American people are starving and struggling to withstand the combined cruelty of covid-19 and capitalism. Millions of people are falling through the ever-growing cracks of the capitalist system. The $1.5 trillion USD injected into the stock market could have equipped medical workers with much needed medical equipment to help combat the virus or provided every single American with $4500 to help them endure this crisis. The American government has provided unending support to the bourgeoisie and their corporations through handouts and media glorification.

“Exploitative parasites such as landlords, bankers and company owners benefit nobody but themselves and serve no purpose but to leech off the fruits of the working peoples’ labour”

The exploited American people have been brainwashed into supporting the exploiters. They are led to believe that these gluttonous corporations are trustworthy and an integral part of society and its functionality, but as proven by the current pandemic, this is not the case. Rather than the corporations the US government has lavished with countless bailouts, it is actually workers of all stripes that are truly integral to the functioning of society. It is workers who truly serve the people and allow them to fulfil their individual creative needs and desires. Exploitative parasites such as landlords, bankers and company owners benefit nobody but themselves and serve no purpose but to leech off the fruits of the working peoples’ labour. The United States has once again allowed its people to starve and perish while the bourgeoisie receives constant financial aid, support, and glorification.

“The incessant propaganda campaign against China serves to distract legitimately angry workers from the callous handling of the pandemic in the US”

While the people are struggling, Donald Trump and the US federal government have focused most of their attention towards propagating anti-Chinese sentiment. The Covid-19 virus is often labelled the “Chinese virus” and has been used to accuse China of committing an act of biological warfare against the United States, despite medical experts and researchers confirming that the virus is in fact natural and likely originated from a wet market. The incessant propaganda campaign against China serves to distract legitimately angry workers from the callous handling of the pandemic in the US. The American bourgeoisie has ignored the dire situation negatively impacting the working people of their nation and has continued to disseminate information glorifying the United States and other western powers, while repeatedly demonizing nations such as Cuba and China, along with the concept of socialism as a whole. These actions are counter-productive to combatting Covid-19 and serve only to further empower and enrich the western elite including Donald Trump himself. When Covid-19 first arrived on American shores, the American bourgeoisie refused to acknowledge the virus as a matter of concern and thus did not implement quarantine measures to prevent its spread. They refused to provide health workers with enough medical equipment needed to combat the virus and treat infected patients. This disregard for the American people caused the death of thousands and the impoverishment of millions of Americans. The failure of the bourgeoisie to properly implement and maintain strategies for combating Covid-19 has resulted in unprecedented death tolls and infection rates, with a total of approximately 930,000 confirmed cases and almost 53,000 deaths as of April 26th.

“All essential workers are feeling the ongoing pressure as their workloads multiply dramatically and as their lives are constantly put in danger”

The United States is currently the epicentre of two deadly illnesses, Covid-19 and the exploitative sickness that is capitalism. Due to the negligence of the federal government and its sheer acquisitive nature, some state governments have begun operating independently and enacting their own strategies to combat Covid-19 in line with the self-isolation and social distancing procedures enacted around the world. The American federal government has retaliated by encouraging citizens to ‘liberate’ the American states and disobey the restrictions and quarantine measures implemented. As a result, the stress on essential workers has intensified tenfold and the entire population of the United States has been put in imminent danger.

“The capitalist world is one where profits are valuable and the lives of people are not, where losing wealth is more devastating than losing a human life. This is wrong!”

It is predicted that Covid-19 will become exponentially worse in America and claim far more lives because of the conditions instigated by the parasitic bourgeoisie. The calls for liberation have seen a rise in not only Covid-19 cases, but also a rise in conservative and reactionary forces. Bankrolled by billionaires through shadowy networks and hard to trace “dark money”, nationalist protests, often including armed protestors, have been organised at government buildings, courthouses and closed businesses. These rabbles of paid-protestors, right-wing nutjobs and armed thugs demand the reopening of such essential services as golf clubs, nail salons and gyms! They demand an end to the very lockdowns that have helped to decrease infection rates and save countless lives. All essential workers are feeling the ongoing pressure as their workloads multiply dramatically and as their lives are constantly put in danger because of the sinister machinations of the conservative and reactionary forces on behalf of private profit.

It is imperative that the we crush the capitalist disease that continues to plague the earth and impoverish everyone but the bourgeois exploiters. The bourgeoisie continues to disrupt nations and endanger all the people residing within them. They have once again ignored the needs of the masses and their desperate cries for assistance while investing both time and money into supporting the already wealthy elite. The capitalist world is one where profits are valuable and the lives of people are not, where losing wealth is more devastating than losing a human life. This is wrong. We instead must create a world where the people and their material conditions are most important. We as Communists must continue the fight towards socialism and the emancipation of all people from bourgeois oppression.
