Red Report Back - Week Ending 10/04/2022

Over the weekend, members of the Australian Communist Party were out on the streets in the urban fringe of Adelaide to speak to community members about their experiences of the housing crisis. They were joined by allies from the Anti-Poverty Network to both educate and be educated by residents who were suffering from the crisis first hand. The outreach event worked to provide a voice to those who are disgusted with the shameful situation where so many vulnerable people are abandoned to fend for themselves.

Red Report Back - Week Ending 03/04/2022

In a typical move, the Liberal party plans to cut funding to homelessness services by $39.4 million from mid next year. Naturally, this cut in funding has a knock on effect that will most likely result in existing services cutting their programs or firing employees. One source from Homelessness Australia said that the loss of funding could result in around 500 jobs being lost in the sector from next year.

Red Report Back - Week Ending 27/03/2022

Leader of the Australian Labor Party, Anthony Albanese, fleshed out his approach to Australia’s housing crisis this week. As is custom for the resident career politician, Albo underwrote his approach to the housing crisis with his personal sob story of being raised by a single mother in public housing which provided security, a gift which he says he is ever thankful for.
